For Example
You may be selling products that require the website to show two prices. One in Kg (kilograms) and one in lb (Pounds). Instead of adding 2 prices for each product with the potential of making mistakes in the calculations, a single price can be supplied and the conversion calculated by the system and displayed on the site.
The price per lb on all the products below is calculated from the supplied price per Kg.
Product A - £4.40 / Kg (£2.00 / lb)
Product B - £7.80 / Kg (£3.54 / lb)
Product C - £1.98 / Kg (£0.90 / lb)
Packs Example
The same principle can be applied to products sold in Packs.
For example you may sell flooring priced on a per pack bases, but require the website to display a per square meter price so that the customer can compair prices with products supplied in varing pack sizes.
The products below are given a price per pack and a pack size, the price per square meter is calculated and displayed on the website.
Flooring Type A (Pack Size: 10 sq.m) - £15.95 / pack (£1.59 / sq.m)
Flooring Type B (Pack Size: 15 sq.m) - £50.00 / pack (£3.33 / sq.m)
Flooring Type C (Pack Size: 20 sq.m) - £64.00 / pack (£3.20 / sq.m)
From the product list above it is easy to see that although Product C is the most expensive, on a per square meter bases it is less expensive than Product B.
